I have been fortunate enough to attend this event several times. Pre-Covid and this year. The Forever Gala is an event to help raise money for the Kingston Animal Rescue.
The Kingston Animal Rescue is about helping animals in Kingston that have no home. They help get animals the care and the rehabilitation they need to get better. Their goal is to find a home for each loving animal. There is a huge amount of support that goes into this, which includes many foster homes.
I have always loved animals, had a dog my whole life. Anything with animals, I am onboard. Jessica Hellard, from Jessica Hellard Real Estate, has been a strong voice for these animals. When she reached out to ask if I would partake in the event, I quickly returned with a yes.
The event occurred on Saturday, September 10th, from 4-11 pm. It started dock-side with some peach-schnapps mimosa and conversation with others who shared this passion. It was nice to mingle with some other business owners. Lindsay (The Hair Extension Room), Stephanie (Northstone Real Estate Group), and Jess (Bespoke Skin).
We boarded the Island Star Cruise at 6 pm for dinner and entertainment. We were lucky enough to sit with one of our clients, Samantha from Mary-Kathryn MacKenzie Sales Representative. Dinner was a vegan meal – strawberry salad, sweet potato lasagna, and a chocolate peanut butter tart. Anyone who knows me knows I am usually in bed by 8 pm, so as the time neared, I could feel myself crashing. A quick order of coffee and Bailey’s did the trick!
We listened to stories about the animal during dinner and participated in a live auction. Shelby got tickets to Pumpkin Inferno (so fun!). We decided to call it a night when we arrived at the Kingston dock around 10 pm.
There is one animal I was drawn to – a Siberian Huskey, Haley. This poor girl was in rough shape when she arrived. As I watched the video of her, my heart just broke. To see an animal with no meat on its body. Look at those blue eyes, poor baby. I would love to have her, but my dogs are not the friendliest with other animals. I’m happy she has a loving foster family. To read Haley’s story, click here.
